Bridal Shower Buffet Menu

From a food preparation perspective, the bridal shower buffet is one of the easiest styles of bridal showers to plan. A buffet-style bridal shower gives guests the ability to mix and mingle and though it has an easy-going vibe, it can also be very elegant. There is so much you can do bridal shower food-wise with a buffet. Serving food buffet-style at a bridal shower also gives you, the hostess, the ability to visit with guests, instead of being hidden away in the kitchen playing waitress much of the time.

If you are planning to serve food buffet style at the bridal shower, keep in mind that most food has a table life of four hours. (If it's really hot or the food is sitting in the sun, figure on three hours or less.)

Be careful with including anything on the menu that contains mayonnaise, sour cream, whipped cream, or raw eggs. These foods spoil quickly (which would, of course, spoil the party!). Fruit and sandwiches (hold the mayo) are usually safe food choices for a buffet menu at a bridal shower, as are cold pasta salads with oil-based dressings.

LONG-LASTING BRIDAL SHOWER BUFFET FOODS

Salads

* Caesar, cobb, garden, or oriental noodle

* Shrimp cocktail (as long as you put the serving platter on ice)

* Fresh fruit, sliced and arranged on a platter or tossed in a salad. Lightly spritz with orange juice to keep fresh.

Main Courses

* Quiches and frittatas, hot or at room temperature

* Sandwiches (hold the cheese and mayo)

* Grilled chicken and vegetables (served hot or cold)

Desserts

* Baked goods, e.g. muffins, quick breads, and coffee cakes

* Cookies, brownies, pies, and cakes (watch out for cream-filled)

Beverages

* To keep punch, iced tea, and lemonade from diluting, make ice cubes out of the beverages themselves (instead of water). Just pour into ice cube trays, freeze, and add to the pitcher or punch bowl. Always add champagne last to keep your punch bubbly.

*Mimosas (Chamagne Cocktails) - These are so tasty they rarely last long enough to spoil!
